York 2032
National policy context
From 2022 to 2032 the way we live, work and co-exist together may change in ways we cannot yet imagine.
We cannot predict how national policy will develop over the years ahead.
Integrated Health and Care
The government announced its 10-year NHS plan, "Fit for the Future," in July 2025, which aims to improve healthcare in England through three main shifts: from hospital to community care, from analogue to digital, and from treating sickness to preventing it.
In July 2022 the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) was established as the statutory body replacing the six CCGs in our region, and an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) was formed on the same geography with representation from a wide range of health and care organisations to set the strategic direction for the ICB.
In York, a place-based committee known as the York Health and Care Partnership, has been established and is comprised of the council, health and care and community partners. The Partnership has developed a York Health and Care Prospectus that sets out the challenge and opportunities for health and care services in response to the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2022 to 2032.
Climate Change policy
Powering Up Britain is the overarching strategy providing the vision and framework for energy security and economic growth. It sets out the key actions to accelerate delivery of clean energy, recognising its importance in delivering our climate goals whilst simultaneously providing energy security and securing greater energy independence. Clean Power 2030 is a specific mission within this to reach 95% low-carbon electricity by 2030, and the Carbon Budget and Growth Delivery Plan outlines the policies to achieve the legally binding carbon emission reduction targets by outlining specific policies and actions to secure economic growth from the transition to a net-zero economy.
